Download with mod manager not working

Does Vortex replace NMM/MO/my current mod manager? We're not expecting everyone to immediately jump ship to Vortex, but we feel it is ready if you want to try it out. If you currently have a stable working mod setup with an alternative mod manager you can stick with it, but you might find Vortex a good alternative for your next modding setup.

I just got a new computer, so I'm going to install all the graphics mods my old laptop couldn't handle. But, I can't download any mods with the nexus mod manager. I click the file, the little popup with the loading cirlce comes up, then it goes away but no downloads que in the manager. I'm still waiting to hear back on their forums but thought maybe one of you guys would know of a fix/workaround. It doesn't feel like it's been long since we officially launched Vortex - our new mod manager - back in July but that was 4 months ago!
